VINfluence is heading back to Tuscany in April 2026 to enjoy the most famous wines of Tuscany in the seaside appellation of Bolgheri. The region of Bolgheri is home to the “Super Tuscans”, a name coined in the 1970’s to describe a new and revolutionary style of wine that was being created outside the dictates of the government-controlled DOC.
What to expect
The region of Bolgheri is home to the “Super Tuscans”, a name coined in the 1970’s to describe a new and revolutionary style of wine that was being created outside the dictates of the government-controlled DOC. Although these wines were made with the highest quality grapes and most advanced wine-making techniques, their producers preferred to label them as simple Vino da Tavola and ignore the wine making rules of the time. The names Sassicaia, Ornellaia, and Masseto would become famous over the next 5 decades and are today among the most collectible wines in the world. All revered for their richness, balance and longevity. And ability to win wine awards!
We will stay at the Antinori owned Tombola Talasso Resort, right on the water in the small town of Marina di Castagneto Carducci. This elegant hotel boasts an underground grotto with warm thermal pools, the perfect way to relax after a busy day of tasting wines. Close by are many local seafood restaurants where our meals will be enjoyed as we overlook the Mediterranean Sea. Mornings can begin with a walk on the beach, a dip in the thermal pools or just a leisurely breakfast as you enjoy the views. We will visit two wineries every day, enjoy a cooking class and balance out the amazing meals with bike rides and sunset walks.

This region is one of the most beautiful in Italy with the hillside vineyards on the east and the Mediterranean on the west. It is one of the few areas in Italy with biking trails and we will take full advantage of that as we bike from winery to winery. The trip begins just mid April 2026. We will meet in Fiumicino in April 2026 and travel to Bolgheri together. The winery visits will be at Italy’s most famous estates and we will be enjoying some of the most prestigious wines made in Europe. The trip cost will cover van transfers to wineries and bike rentals for those who prefer to bike. Also included are 5 night’s accommodations at the fantastic Tombolo Talasso Resort, meals, wine tours & tastings and one cooking class. There will be one evening where dinner will not be included so that you may enjoy one of the many nearby restaurants. Prior to departure, Brien and Peggy will host a dinner where all guests will have the opportunity to meet and discuss the upcoming trip.
